Guests:  Al Lindquist introduced his guest, Don Brigham of Old Saybrook.  Don worked
in NYC and lived in the northest corner of the state in Washington.  He and his wife
picked Old Saybrook to retire into.
Treasurer's Report:  Treasurer Paul reviewed both the club and foundation spread sheets,
there were no questions in regard to these.  He also indicated that our investments
totaled $545K at the end of March, up from prior month.  Also that the fund re-balancing
was completed to allow us to glean more income from our portfolios.  Essex Financial
will be making a presentation to us in the near future.
The matching grant application to benefit the Soup Kitchen is still in process.  The club
put up $1500 and with the other matching funds we should be able to present the Soup
Kitchen with $4500.  Preseident Joan indicated that we may need some club
participation to substantiate  the grant.  More to come on that.
Announcements:  President Joan (and Paul) both enjoyed the District Conference this
last  weekend.  They attended many interesting sessions.  One session of significant
interest was done by two international students.  One went to Ireland to complete her
studies in language, she needed 4 languages, and studied Greek in Ireland.  It figures.
The other girl studied in Italy.  President Joan indicated that there are many International
scholarships available and we should search out potential candidates.  They cannot be
    relatives of Rotarians however.
Brent talked about the coming golf tourney and encouraged us all to get busy with the
donations and gifts.  Last year we made over $1000 on mulligans and sold over $2000
worth of raffle tickets.  The biggest money maker is still the donations.  Let's all get
    cranking!
President Joan again reiterated the need to build up our membership.  We'll be looking
to do another membership brochure on our club to be used in promoting our cause.
More press on our activities is always a good thing and the latest Harbor News photo
and story was very good.  We need more of this publicity.  Any ideas will be greatly
    appreciated.
Marty Drobiarz announced our wine tasting fund raiser will be held t the Saybrook
Point Inn on November 20th.  Mark your calendars.  He also indicated his brother in
law will have his antique car leading our Memorial Day Veterans group.
President Joan called for a brief meeting of the Scholarship Committee after the
    regular meeting.
