Improve the grounds and research the grave markers.  This for the Club to consider participation.  Also John reported that the VFW Old Lyme has $10,000.00 in grant money to assist veterins in the area,  maybe we could supplement this effort with a District Grant??? Let's think about it.

Sam Fulginitti introduced Colonel Wiliam  Werner, Retired.  Bill has served in the reserves for 20n years, nearly 6 years at the Dover Mortuary and is presently works with the Dodge Chemical Co Cambride, MA
We viewed a short film describing the return of fallen soldiers to The U S Army Mortuary Dover, Delaware. Very well done.
Bill gave a brief history of the handling of the remains of fallen soldiers, Mexican War buried where they fell, Civil War, embalming was begun, WW 1, dog tags and burial on foreign soil,  WW 2  recover remains and bury at home and on foregn soil, Korean Conflict, & Vietnam,  no burial on foreign soil,  Desert Storm/Iraq/Afganistan, all personell returned to U S.   Most soldiers are buried at home, 90 % with 10 % at Arlington Natl Cemetary.  Each soldier has a $100,000 insurance policy with another $400,000 avaialble.  all funeral expenses covered by the Govt.  All handling of the fallen soldier is done with the untmost care and attention. Personell are identified by DNA no more dog tags. The Dover facillity will remain operative and is run by The U S Air force.  Colonel Werner gave us a very thoughtful and solid presentation.  Thanks.

THE FOUR WAY TEST of the things we think, say, or do

1.)    Is it the TRUTH

2.)    Is it FAIR to all concerned

3.)    Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIEDNSHIPS

4.)    Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned
