Happy Bucks: The beautiful day, the Olympics and U.S. success, Bill O. was happy for winning his first sailing competition in 50 years of sailing! Happy bucks for Mike Velgouse who was in attendence, Bill M. for his croquet exploits with Ken, John was happy for Steve Mecca's work in RI and going for a Gates grant to finance his latrine project in Ghana, Glen is 65!

David Wight: Checks for our scholarship recipients have been sent for the fall semester. We received thank you's from Elizabeth Comstock and Diana Wilbanks, 2 of our recipients.
Bill, Walter, Peter and Ken got before the club and talked about Conn. Sail Access. There was an article complete with color pictures in INK Magazine which was passed around. Our club help the Madison Club with this excellent program that gives the handicapped an opportunity to sail on LI Sound. Help is needed, there are 2 sessions at 10am and around noon on Wed, Thurs and Friday at Pilots Point Marina in Westbrook. The Madison Club put up $2500 and our club received a matching grant throught the district which went to this project.
John told the club he will be running with his grandson in the New York City Marathon in November. John is accepting contributions for Polio Plus. Bill suggested the club support John by contributing.
